Rockingham-Clarendon Paving

Client: Rockingham-Clarendon, VT
Project Span: 2018-2019

PROJECT OVERVIEW

EIV provided inspection services, office engineering and project outreach services on this $9.5M, 38-mile long paving project extending from Rockingham, VT to Clarendon, VT. Project elements included milling, pot hole repair, crack sealing, paving and installation of center-line rumble strips in designated areas. This was a maintenance project designed to extend the life of the roadway and prevent further deterioration of the roadway.

The length of this project, spanning the towns of Rockingham, Chester, Cavendish, Ludlow, Mount Holly, Wallingford and Clarendon utilized the Hot in Place Recycling process along several sections of roadway to create the intermediate course of pavement. This rehabilitation technique heats and scarifies the existing road surface, mixes the scarified material with a recycling agent, and then lays the material back down on the roadway with a standard paving machine. EIV inspection staff provided quality assurance for this process as well as all other construction processes throughout the duration of this project.

Project outreach services required creating and maintaining a stakeholder list of all municipalities, schools, businesses, emergency service personnel and area residents along the entire length of the project. Communication and coordination between the contractor, VTrans staff and the aforementioned stakeholders was essential.
