Hartland Depot Road Bridge Replacement

Client: Town of Hartland, VT
Project Span: 2020-2021

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This $4.8M bridge project on Depot Road in Hartland, VT included the replacement of a six-span cast-in-place structure on rolled beams approximately 359 feet in length and 24 feet wide. The existing bridge was replaced with two short, single-span bridges using the Geosynthetic Reinforced Slope – Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) for abutments. This was the first use of this technology in Vermont for bridges. EIV provided construction inspection services, ensuring that all elements of this project were conducted safely and effectively and construction items were installed to the proper specifications

The preexisting structure spanned Interstate 91, and several full closures of the interstate were required at various points during construction for demolition and installation of new steel girders. EIV provided outreach services in order to notify the traveling public of full closures, detour routes, and general construction information.
