St. Paul Street Improvements

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The first phase of the Great Streets Initiative in downtown Burlington, VT is focused on the St. Paul Street roadway reconstruction, which extends two city blocks from the Main Street/St. Paul Street intersection to a point approximately 50 feet south of the intersection with Maple Street. The project consists of roadway reconstruction and realignment, and amenity upgrades of two blocks of St. Paul Street.

The street will be realigned to allow room for two travel lanes, two parallel parking lanes, tree belts and wider sidewalks. Diagonal parking will be removed to make room for the new amenities which include benches, signage, pervious pavers, parking meters, bike racks and other public amenties. A new storm water infrastructure has been constructed, site lighting, power and communications have been placed underground, and adjustments and realignments of several other utilities has been completed as well.
