Proctor North Street Bridge Replacement

Client: Proctor, VT
Project Span: 2021-2022

PROJECT OVERVIEW

EIV provided public outreach services on this bridge project which included
the full replacement of the existing single-span rolled beam bridge with a new structural steel bridge with concrete deck and pavement over the Vermont Railway on North Street in Proctor, VT. The new structure was built on a raised vertical alignment for improved railroad clearance. The project also required the installation of a 300’ long temporary pedestrian bridge to allow pedestrians access over the railroad. A short-term full road closure was required to assemble and install the pedestrian bridge. A 90-day long-term closure was required for the full replacement of the North Street Bridge.

Located in a heavily residential area with several homes in very close proximity to construction, outreach in advance of and throughout construction was vital for these particular homeowners. EIV established an intimate and trusting rapport with several homeowners, going above and beyond to help get fuel deliveries and home maintenance contractors scheduled around construction activities to help ensure these homeowners had access to needed services throughout the construction process.
